PMP certification Application
Appearing for PMP exam is a two part process as follows :
1. Send in the filled application
2. PMI will review and determine your eligibility If you are eligible to take the PMP exam, PMI will notify you by e-mail and send you the examination scheduling instructions with Prometric. You can schedule your examination date and location on prometric website.
All applications are not audited for their educational and work experience but a few are selected randomly to verify the educational and work experience quoted.
PMP certification Training
There are many online and local sites which provides necessary 35 Hour project management education and prepare you for the PMP exam. Your local university or college my have a course to teach project management or/and have a PMP preparation course .
PMP certification exam Cost
The PMP certification exam cost is US $405 for PMI Members.
Cost for Non PMI Members is US $555 .
A regular individual PMI membership fee is US$ 105 and it is better to take a member ship and then apply for examination . This way your final cost is $510 which is less than non member cost and you get benifits of members for one full year.
PMP certification Exam
If you are eligible and your application is accepted by PMI you will get examination scheduling instructions for scheduling your examination date and location.
Once you are approved you have to take exam within one year starting from the day your application was approved. You can take the examination up to three times within this one-year eligibility if you can not clear it in first attempt. You will have to pay the fees associated with reexamination.
Exam is offered online by Prometric after you register and schedule a exam date and center with them.
PMP exam is a Multiple choice Exam which is of 4 hours duration and has 200 multiple choice questions. Questions not answered are counted as incorrect answers.
Paper based exams are only offered in case there is no prometric center in the radius 300 KM / 186.5 Miles of your place of residence.

PMI Membership is open to anyone interested in project management. If your work involves project management or if you simply want to learn more about it, then you can apply for PMI membership.One year membership costs US$129.00 and you get the following benefits

Renewal of PMP certification
PMP certification is valid for 3 years and you need 60 PDUs within these three years to renew it further for next three years. If you don’t earn PDUs and claim it prior to expiry of your credential you PMP certification will be suspended. You will have one year after that to earn PDU and reclaim your PMP title.
